The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has announced changes to the Medicare Part A and Part B Deductibles for 2019.

The major changes affecting the Medicare Supplement market are as follows:

  • The Part A Annual Deductible increases from $1,340 in 2018 to $1,364 in 2019.
  • The Part B Annual Deductible increases from $183 in 2018 to $185 in 2019.

Of less direct interest to the Medicare Supplement Market (but of interest for the overall Medicare Market):

  • The Standard Monthly Premium that Part B enrollees will pay increased from $134 in 2018 to $135.50 in 2019 (Note that not all Part B enrollees pay the standard Part B Premium).
  • Medicare Advantage Premiums are expected to decline (on average), by 6% in 2019 (versus 2018), while plan choices and new benefits increase.
